“We weren’t sure about how to effectively evaluate and communicate the value proposition for our program. We knew we had to prove our impact to keep our program going and secure future funding. Sativus provided us with a framework that turned our ideas into a clear, easy-to-read document that was full of information that we could use to communicate to our stakeholders. They addressed all the questions and worries funding bodies might have had and made our message crystal clear. Thanks to Sativus, we secured future funding, attracted more investors, and got the government to reinvest in the Farmsafe Australia program. Sativus is very professional and personable, dedicated to providing high quality and complete services. Everything was timely, which was a critical value in what we did.”
The Project
The aim of the project was to connect with key stakeholders across Australia’s agriculture industries, to gain insight into the current impact, opportunities, and future requirements of farm safety in Australia. The project involved robust stakeholder consultation to gather qualitative and quantitative data to demonstrate the value of Farmsafe Australia engagement initiatives. Thematic analysis was used to search for themes and patterns in the data and effectively summarise key features of a large body of data in an objective way. The results provided evidence of the impact, efficacy, and value of Farmsafe Australia’s Revitalisation Project activities and highlighted the importance of financial support for future initiatives.
Services provided: Support with funding application, project management and project communication.
Project delivery time: 8 weeks.
“My biggest challenges at work were facing a new project that needed internal stakeholder buy-in. I lacked experience in project design and needed to gather and present data effectively. Sativus came through with novel industry insights and guidance on project design. Their constructive feedback and mentoring on document review and scientific methods were invaluable. They boosted my confidence and provided much-needed diversity of input. Since teaming up with Sativus, I’ve honed my science communication skills, influenced internal stakeholders, and gained expertise in research design. The best thing about Sativus is their personalised approach—they tailor their support to your needs, even anticipating what you might require. They’re approachable, supportive, and they never make you feel isolated.”
The Project
To inform CHDC’s methods for providing support and advocacy for the Central Highlands agricultural industry, they required producer insights into the themes, delivery method and availability of resources. Using the Sativus research-based consultation framework, the CHDC Project Manager was supported in the design of the project survey, data capture methodology, data analysis and reporting. Sativus also provided 3 months of mentoring and professional development to the CHDC Project Manager to create a legacy of skills that will underpin the high-quality delivery of Stage 2 and 3 of the CHDC project. With an enhanced understanding of the end-user preferences, the CHDC project will lead to improved producer engagement with resources and the ecosystem, and an increased adoption of research, which will improve farming practices in the Central Highlands and the return on investment of their levies.
Services provided: Professional development and support with project design.

We provide Support for people across the whole knowledge chain: school students > school teachers > university students > academia > researchers > managers > investors.
We specialise in establishing and assessing research programs, project management, and translating research for impact. Our support can reduce your work burden and give you more time to innovate.
Just ask us, and we can be ‘hands on’ and help you create, manage and communicate your research – as much as you need. You can mix and match our services to support your evolving needs.
A research and development (R&D) project involves investing in and conducting research to achieve outcomes to meet strategic goals and stakeholder requirements.
R&D programs are enhanced with the inclusion of Extension – which leads to the commercialisation and adoption of the research outcomes. Extension activities need to be included in all new projects, to ensure it is impactful and leads to successful RD&E outcomes.
Note, that any RD&E program developed should align with requirements under the Australian Tax Office R&D Incentives Program to be eligible for tax offsets for eligible R&D activities.
When starting a project, Sativus can work alongside scientists and investors to ensure that quality science is being created, right from the get-go, with effective project management. We help ensure that the research design, conduct and analysis are solid, robust, rigorous, and ultimately meet the needs of the end user of the research.
We ensure projects remain healthy from start to finish through eagle-eyed project management, so that timelines are met, budgets are balanced, issues are managed and risks are mitigated.
When it’s time to report, Sativus can help ensure that your science is accessible to all the audiences that matter through clear and engaging communication. We will write and present your science in a way that leaves stakeholders clear about the findings and the value of the research.
Science only has positive impact when people can use it. Knowledge and resources are wasted when research projects and programs are not effectively communicated, or if they are not systematically consolidated in a way that those who need the information can access it and use it.
Sativus works to identify are where the knowledge exists but is not accessible. We establish and conduct projects to clean off dusty shelves, communicate lost work and draw knowledge and information together and form it into something that is accessible and usable by those who need it. This process enhances the impact of science that has already been conducted but has not yet reached its potential impact.
